-게
-게 turns an adjective (or verb) into a word that describes how an action is done, or shows the goal "so that…".
정도·비교Degree & comparisonHan: -(으)ㄴ makes an adjective describe a noun (깨끗한 방); to describe how a verb is done, use -게.

Don’t mix up
-게vs-도록Same "so that" meaning, but -도록 sounds more formal and written; in conversation -게 is more common: 늦지 않도록 일찍 출발하십시오.-게vs-(으)려고-(으)려고 states the subject's own intention and needs the same subject in both parts; -게 aims at a result and allows a different subject: 제가 먹으려고 빵을 샀어요 vs 동생이 먹을 수 있게 빵을 샀어요.How to build it
A/V+게
깨끗하다 → 깨끗하게, 늦다 → 늦게, 들을 수 있다 → 들을 수 있게
- Put the tense on the final verb, not on -게: 늦게 왔어요, not 늦었게 왔어요.
- In the "so that" meaning, the -게 clause can have its own subject, different from the main clause: 아이가 잘 수 있게 조용히 하세요.
- In this use -게 does not end the sentence; a main verb must follow it (크게 말하세요).
- Some adjectives also have a -히/-이 adverb (조용히, 깨끗이); both forms are usually fine, but in daily speech 빨리 is far more common than 빠르게.
Classic mistake
Wrong: 주말에 방을 깨끗한 청소했어요.
Right: 주말에 방을 깨끗하게 청소했어요.
