-도록 links an action to the result or limit it aims at: "so that (something happens)" or "until / to the point that".

Han: -도록 does not take a past-tense marker; the past is shown only on the final verb 출발했어요.

Examples

뒤에 앉은 사람들도 잘 들리도록 크게 말해 주세요.Please speak loudly so that the people sitting at the back can hear well too.

회의 자료는 내일 오전까지 보내도록 하겠습니다.I will make sure to send the meeting materials by tomorrow morning.

어제 친구하고 밤새도록 이야기했어요.Yesterday I talked with my friend all night long.

감기에 걸리지 않도록 옷을 따뜻하게 입으세요.Dress warmly so that you don't catch a cold.

-도록vs-(으)ㄹ 때까지-(으)ㄹ 때까지 marks any ordinary endpoint in time; -도록 in this sense is limited to set phrases: 친구가 올 때까지 기다렸어요 vs 밤새도록 기다렸어요.

V+도록 (negative: V + 지 않도록)

잊다 → 잊지 않도록 / 들리다 → 들리도록 / 새다 → 밤새도록

Do not put a tense marker before -도록: 먹었도록 and 먹겠도록 are wrong. Tense is shown on the final verb.
In the "so that" meaning, the subject of the -도록 clause can differ from the main subject, and the sentence can end in a request or suggestion (-(으)세요, -(으)ㅂ시다).
The "until / to the point" meaning appears mostly in set expressions such as 밤새도록, 늦도록, 목이 쉬도록, 배가 아프도록; do not use it for any ordinary time limit.
V-도록 하다 means "make sure to / have someone do": 보내도록 하겠습니다 is a polite promise, 쉬도록 하세요 is a polite instruction.

Wrong: ~~늦지 않았도록 일찍 출발했어요.~~

Right: 늦지 않도록 일찍 출발했어요.
