'N goes without saying, and even M …': names the obvious case first, then adds a less expected one. Works for good and bad facts and is a little more emphatic than -은/는 물론이고.
나열·첨가Listing & addingHan: The added item needs 도 (or 까지/조차) to show it comes on top of the first.
Examples
That actor is much loved: his acting goes without saying, and his singing is excellent too.
This area never runs out of tourists, in winter as well as, of course, in summer.

Don’t mix up
-은/는 말할 것도 없고vs-은/는 물론이고Almost the same; 물론이고 is more common and neutral, 말할 것도 없고 more emphatic: 주말은 물론이고 평일에도 붐빈다.-은/는 말할 것도 없고vs-은/는 고사하고고사하고 means 'let alone': the bigger thing is out of the question and even the smaller one fails, so it goes with negative results: 집은 고사하고 방 한 칸도 없다. 말할 것도 없고 adds to an obvious case: 집은 말할 것도 없고 차도 있다.
How to build it
- The second part usually takes 도, 까지 or 조차 and names a bigger or more surprising case.
- It works for positive and negative facts:
- With a verb, nominalize it first:
- It can also end a sentence: N은/는 말할 것도 없다 ('it goes without saying'): 건강의 중요성은 말할 것도 없다.
Classic mistake
The added item needs 도 (or 까지/조차) to show it comes on top of the first.
