Examples

밤늦게 커피를 너무 많이 마시지 마세요.Don't drink too much coffee late at night.
박물관 안에서는 사진을 찍지 마세요.Please don't take photos inside the museum.

Don’t mix up
-지 마세요vs-지 않아요-지 않아요 says that someone doesn't do something; -지 마세요 asks the listener not to do it: 저는 커피를 마시지 않아요 vs 커피를 마시지 마세요.
-지 마세요vs-(으)면 안 돼요-(으)면 안 돼요 states a rule ("it's not allowed") and can be asked as a question; -지 마세요 is a direct request: 여기서 사진을 찍으면 안 돼요? vs 여기서 사진을 찍지 마세요.
-지 마세요vs-지 맙시다-지 맙시다 includes the speaker ("let's not"); -지 마세요 is only for the listener: 우리 늦지 맙시다 vs 늦지 마세요.
How to build it
V (stem)+지 마세요
가다 → 가지 마세요, 먹다 → 먹지 마세요, 걱정하다 → 걱정하지 마세요
- Use it with action verbs. With adjectives it usually sounds wrong; a few fixed wishes such as 아프지 마세요 ("don't get sick") are the exception.
- Do not put a past or future marker before it: say 가지 마세요, not 갔지 마세요 or 가겠지 마세요.
- It is a request to the listener, so it ends a sentence as a command. For "let's not" use -지 맙시다; with friends use -지 마.
- Negating with 안 + -(으)세요 does not make a negative request; for "please don't" you need -지 마세요.
Classic mistake
Wrong: 여기에서 사진을 안 찍으세요.
Right: 여기에서 사진을 찍지 마세요.
안 + -(으)세요 sounds like a statement or question about what the person does ("You don't take photos here"), not a request; a negative request needs -지 마세요.
