-(으)ㄴ/는 데다가
-(으)ㄴ/는 데다가 adds a second fact on top of the first, usually pointing the same way, like "and on top of that…".
나열·첨가Listing & addingHan: "Pretty" is good and "expensive" is bad, so this is a contrast; 데다가 adds facts of the same kind, while -는데 expresses contrast.
Examples
그 친구는 성격이 좋은 데다가 일도 잘해서 인기가 많아요.That friend has a nice personality and is also good at his job, so he's very popular.
이 식당은 음식이 맛있는 데다가 가격도 싸요.The food at this restaurant is tasty, and on top of that it's cheap.
민수 씨는 학생인 데다가 아르바이트도 해서 항상 바빠요.Minsu is a student and works part-time as well, so he's always busy.

Don’t mix up
-(으)ㄴ/는 데다가vs-(으)ㄹ 뿐만 아니라Very close in meaning, but 뿐만 아니라 can attach directly to a noun (사과뿐만 아니라 배도 샀어요), while 데다가 needs 인 and then means "is N" (학생인 데다가).-(으)ㄴ/는 데다가vs-고-고 simply lists facts neutrally (싸고 맛있어요); 데다가 stresses that one more fact piles on top (싼 데다가 맛있어요).-(으)ㄴ/는 데다가vs-(으)ㄴ/는데-는데 (no space) gives background or contrast (비가 오는데 우산이 없어요); 는 데다가 (with a space) adds a similar fact (비가 오는 데다가 바람도 불어요).
How to build it
V+는 데다가 (past: V + (으)ㄴ 데다가)
A+(으)ㄴ 데다가
N+인 데다가
오다 → 오는 데다가, 싸다 → 싼 데다가, 학생 → 학생인 데다가
- Both facts should go in the same direction (both good or both bad). For contrast use -는데 or -지만 instead.
- The second clause often contains 도 (바람도, 가격도) to show that something is being added.
- For a finished action, verbs take -(으)ㄴ 데다가 (비가 온 데다가), not -았/었는 데다가.
- The added fact usually isn't directly a command or suggestion; add a reason ending first: 추운 데다가 바람도 부니까 따뜻하게 입으세요.
Classic mistake
Wrong: 이 가방은 예쁜 데다가 비싸요.
Right: 이 가방은 예쁜데 비싸요.
"Pretty" is good and "expensive" is bad, so this is a contrast; 데다가 adds facts of the same kind, while -는데 expresses contrast.
